Young Women Seek Options for Coping With Stress and Mental Health Issues
Women’s Health Awareness Month
M/A/R/C’s research sheds light on Gen Z and Millennial women who feel that overwhelming responsibilities are affecting their mental health, consistent with data from the National Institute of Mental Health.
Nearly half of younger women indicate feelings of anxiety and sadness, attributed primarily to mental health issues. Only 29% believe they handle stress extremely or very well, and more likely than older women to be impacted by the stress of others.
The Good News Young Women are Taking Action
Less constrained by social norms that suppress discussion on mental health, younger women are more inclined to try alternative options like meditation and spa treatments to cope with their stress.
Younger women expect employers and health insurers to provide free mental health benefits as part of their healthcare packages, based on a recent LinkedIn survey.*
